The Vodka Museum of St. Petersburg is situated among the most historical evidences of the city such as Northern Capital, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, Guards’ Riding Hall and Mariinsky Palace. The house of the museum was actually used by the clergymen of the famous St. Isaac Cathedral, before it has been used for setting up this unique museum. By entering the door of the museum, you can get to know many unheard stories about vodka and its relation with the country.

The most interesting exhibit of the museum is perhaps the process of vodka production or wine distillation in the earlier days, which was quite modern compared to today’s process. Here you can also see the originally made display items, which depicts a Russian monk standing by the first distillation unit of the ancient days.

At the museum, you will find plenty of items associated with Peter’s days. The games like Prince-Caesar and Prince-Pope are among the interesting choices. You will also find portraits and models of Peter the Great. Through various interesting exhibits you will get to understand about the time during the era of Peter the Great. You can receive satisfactory explanation or guidance on the history of vodka from the knowledgeable museum staffs.  At one part of the museum, you can see sample vodka bottles from the early days. The bottle produced in the year of 1862 at Kronshtadt table wine distillery can also be viewed here. Other than these, there is also an exhibit of bottle filled with Moscow special vodka.

A major part of the museum has been developed based on the 20th century history of vodka, when it played a vital role in Great Patriotic War to boost up the energy of the soldiers. During the war a daily ration of vodka was introduced for the soldiers, which later got popular by the name "Commissar's 100 Grams". Various evidences and displays from that period have been taken an important place in the museum.

The post-war section of the museum is pretty extensive, showing the introduction of new technological developments for enhancing the quality of this drink. Vodka has been involved to the culture and heritage of Russia from the very beginning and it is still the national drink of the country. All these information has been nicely depicted by various means at this museum.
