1. Canned Tomatoes
Cans in which tomatoes are stored has a resin lining. This inner lining contains a component called bisphenol-A which has links with heart, reproductive, obesity and diabetes problems. Canned tomatoes acidity aids in absorption of bisphenol-A into our food. This component actually slows down production of sperm causing reproductive problems in males.
Hence it is best to avoid canned tomatoes and one should reach out tomatoes that come in glass bottles or use pasta sauce instead of canned tomatoes.
2. Corn-Fed Beef
Cattle should ideally be fed with grass, it is their natural food. But today it has become a normal practice to feed cattle with grains like corn or soybean. Animals fed on grains fatten up soon and are ready for slaughter, also they earn more money for their framers but they lack nutrition. Grass fed cattle meat contains more Vitamin E, Calcium, beta-carotene, Omega 3 and minerals like calcium, potassium and magnesium.
If you are eating beef for health reasons but buying corn fed beef, it will not benefit you. Buy beef from organically fed cattle from authentic organic stores. You will have to pay a premium but its worth because you get the nutrients from eating beef. You can also buy them locally.

3. Microwave Popcorn
Bags used in popcorn packaging contains perfluorooctanoic acid. It is found to have links with infertility in human and causes various types of cancers in animals. When we microwave popcorn these acids vaporize and enter into the popcorn and thereby into our body when we eat them. Once entered into our body, this toxin gets accumulated for years and causes diseases.
Use natural corns for making popcorn and cook in pressure cooker or skillet. For seasoning popcorn use butter and dried spices. The other advantage of making popcorn in old fashion style is that you will save a lot of money and get health benefits at the same time.
4. Non Organic Potatoes
Non organic potatoes are treated with fungicides, pesticides and herbicides at different stages before they reach the stores. Potato farmers are aware of the ill effects and hence they prefer growing organic potatoes separately for personal use. They never eat their potatoes that are infused with so many chemicals.
The chemicals are absorbed deep into the potato and cannot be removed by washing. So it is advisable to buy only organic potatoes. They are vaguely more expensive than non-organic potatoes but have immense health benefits.
5. Farmed Salmon
Farmed salmons are fed with soy and many poultry wastes. These cultivated salmons contain less nutrition because they are deprived of their natural food that is available in natural waters. The water is treated with pesticides and antibiotics to keep the fish alive. Farmed salmon thus contain cancerous substances and are highly contaminated. If you are eating salmon for Omega 3, then the hazards of eating farmed salmons will outweigh the benefits.
It is safe to eat farmed salmon only once in 5 months, eating more than that will be extremely harmful. Go for canned salmon, they are exclusively of natural or wild variety. The price of canned salmon is very less, so you need not really try to find wild salmon.
6. Milk Produced with artificial Hormones
Avoid milk produced by inducing artificial hormones into dairy cattle. The growth hormones cause infections as well as pus in the milk. The milk also contains hormones which when accumulated into our body causes cancer. There is no concrete proof to establish a direct relation between consumption of this milk and cancer but many developed countries have banned production and selling of milk produced with artificial hormones.
Before buying milk look for labels that indicate the milk is rBGH and rBST-free.

7. Conventional Apples
Apples contain highest amount of pesticides in the fruit category of foods. Each apple is grafted manually to maintain uniform flavors and texture throughout the produce. Apples have poor resistance and are easily infected by pests; hence spraying pesticide is very frequently done in apple farming. Apple cultivators constantly say that the pesticides remaining on the fruit are harmless but the fact that apple farm workers are reported to have high rate of cancer is enough evidence to prove the hazards of conventional apples. Studies are also revealing a direct link between high concentration of pesticides and Parkinson’s disease.
Eating organic apples is safe and one can get the health benefits of apples which are otherwise not achieved through conventional apples. Alternatively, conventional apples should be washed and zest should be removed before consuming.
