50 Most Influential People In The Food World Announced!
The names of the most influential people in food world were revealed by a comparatively new website on the 18th of January. The site aimed at providing all sorts of food related information to its viewers and tried to identify the people whose opinions matter making them the most powerful people in food related news. This was precisely what Colman Andrews, the editorial director of ‘The DailyMeal’ had in mind when he came up with the idea that made the media sit up and take notice by reporting it as ‘50 Most Influential People In The Food World Announced!’
It wasn’t particularly surprising when Martha Stewart and Rachael Ray made it to the list of the most influential people in food at Nos 47 and 14 respectively. But Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple jostling with the culinary who’s who at No. 5 was astounding indeed! Jobs, apparently, has affected the culinary world profoundly with multiple food applications and iPads wine lists for restaurant use thus clinching his position as one of the powerful people in food world today.
A multitude of well known chefs were included in the list of the most influential people in food expectedly with Wolfgang Puck leading the group at No. 13. However, the people who helped make a difference to the culinary world were given preference with the Agricultural Secretary Thomas J. Vilsack virtually on top of the list at No. 2 while James Sinegal, the Chief Executive of Costo followed behind at No. 15. Michele Obama, the first lady was also recognized as one of the most influential people in food world for promoting healthy eating and fighting obesity.
But the No. 1 position of the most influential people in food went to ‘You’, the consumer who dealt with food as the buyer, reader and user of food and food related materials. ‘You’ are the decision maker says Andrews even as he hopes to receive a positive feedback from his viewers across the world.
