It is time to unwind and have that spring theme party you have been looking forward to. You had enough of the winter blues and they were stretching with grey skies and cold weather. February is over and March is here, which means the ‘spring fling’ is on your mind now. You are already planning on 5 salad ideas to include in your spring theme party. Here are a few fabulous ideas to make a success of it.

Spring theme party can be made simple or elaborate depending on the occasion or you could just have a ‘spring is here’ party to unwind and socialize after the winter hibernation. Either way you could go with a spring party these with plenty of flowers and sunshine. Make spring themed party invitation cards, with wild flowers and grass on handmade paper to get your guests in the mood for it. If you do not find time for it then the regular pre-made invitations with butterflies and sun are good too. The backyard or garden can be set up with spring flower pots and bird feeders. The table could be set up with flower pots, vases and food intermixed. What can be better than a spread of choice vegetables and fruits from your garden on the table? Even better is having a table full of salads made from fresh spring vegetables and fruits.

5 salad ideas to include in your spring themed party:

1. Strawberry and baby spinach salad: Baby spinach is a favorite for most people. Toss in some chopped strawberry to bring out the color, maybe a few mandarin oranges too. The riot of colors will be inviting and a perfect spring fling.

2. Tomato and nuts salad: pick fresh tomatoes from your garden; toss them lightly in olive oil, garlic and basil leaves. Sprinkle almond, walnuts and sunflower seeds on them if you wish.

3. Mandarin orange, mixed greens salad: Mandarin oranges always add zest, color and taste to any salad. Sprinkle them over a bowlful of mixed greens topping it off with your favorite dressing.

4. Olive, lettuce and cherry tomato salad: Green or black olives in a bowl full of chopped lettuce and cherry tomatoes will look inviting. Add a salad dressing of balsamic vinegar and olive oil to this.

5. Mixed berry fruit salad:  Mix in raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, honey dew, cantaloupe balls with orange juice, honey and yoghurt to make this special spring fruit salad. Sprinkle in a few almond flakes over it and a pinch of salt too. Adding fruit-flavored yoghurt to this is optional.

A spring themed party that includes salads will kick in the healthy eating concept for the rest of the year since winter and holiday season is usually the gastronomic over-loading period. A perfect time to start thinking and eating healthy with a rich array of spring vegetables and fruits.
