Home remedies that are amazingly safe, cheap & surprisingly effective!

It was a revelation when I first realized how a few simple ingredients from my kitchen shelf could beat over-the-counter medications in curing some of those common seasonal health problems that kept haunting my family, every other day. The best part was that these home remedies never carried with them the lingering side-effects. Below, are some of the best home cures to alleviate some persistent health problems from which many of us suffer:

1. Home Remedy For Common Cold & Nasal Related Infections:

If you didn't know, the common cold is one of the most recurrent diseases.  So next time when you're affected, try sipping on a cup of black tea, with a spoonful of honey, grated ginger root and a dash of lemon. If your cold is accompanied by a cough, add a pinch of ground pepper. Some even put a few Tulsi leaves.

Also, a cup of hot milk with a spoonful of turmeric powder is also a good remedy for the common cold. The antioxidants, Vitamin C and anti-bacterial properties of these ingredients will boost your immune system thus allowing your body to fight the cold.

2. Acne And Other Skin Related Problems:

Most of your face and body skin troubles are a result of dirt that clog your pores, so, of course, the best prevention and cure is to wash your face. First, splash lukewarm water on your face, which will open the pores and remove the dirt; follow that by cold water to close the pores. Also, use milk, curd or milk cream, depending on the skin type for its anti-aging and moisturizing properties. Besan and oatmeal are both good options for cleansers, and using fresh fruit juices or pulps can help make your skin glow. Some people have even used turmeric powder for its anti-bacterial properties.

3. Pains, Aches & Cuts:

Ice packs, hot water bags, towel dips and warm water baths are some quick and easy pain relievers. Use garlic for slight inflammations in joints and other parts of the body, as it helps in improving blood circulation, thus reducing the pain. Also, a mixture of pure ghee with pounded garlic can assist in the healing of minor injuries.

4. Heartburn & Upset Stomach:

Cabbage, eaten raw or juiced in a blender, can help deal with heartburn.  For slight stomach aches, try eating an over-ripened banana. Sip on a spoonful of ginger-juice with a pinch of salt for more intense stomach pains.

But when symptoms associated to any of these health problems persist, always consult your doctor.
