Here are 4 healthy lunch ideas for work that might keep you going for the rest of the day and put you on track and you are ready to talk to your boss about that raise. Food becomes a secondary option when people are running around with their busy lifestyle, barely finding time to sit down and enjoy a meal. If you are at work, the work load bogs you down and you get trapped with phone calls, the monitor and deadlines.

When you are rushing around at home putting together a packed lunch wondering what would be some good lunch ideas recipe just make sure they are healthy and will sustain you for the day. Too heavy a food might put you to sleep, leaving you groggy and with minimal energy to work.A lunch that is  light, filling and from all the food groups will work wonders.

  1. Salads: Salads are always the best choice for lunch. You could make this at home too, requiring minimal time and effort. Slice up your favorite lettuce the previous night. Add on cherry tomatoes, sprouts, boiled egg on the side and some olive oil on top. Take the dressing on the side and you have a wonderful healthy wholesome meal for lunch. You could eat a boxful of this and not feel guilty sitting at your chair. Add some fat free yogurt on the side for the calcium and vitamin. Drink a glass of fresh fruit juice with no added sugar and you are all set.
  2. Sandwich: There is nothing like a good sandwich that can put you on your feet with a zing. A healthy sandwich with whole wheat bread, light cheese, sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers with mayo and mustard on it. Add apple slices on the side with fruit yoghurt and a few baked chips. You are all ready to take on the next assignment and fly with it.
  3. Soups: Soups are light and nothing warms the mind and heart than a warm bowl of soup. Just walk over to the microwave, heat up that soup and watch your colleagues looking at you in envy as the aroma wafts around. Soups can be made at home with all your favorite vegetables and chicken broth. Cut down on the salt/Sodium and add tofu to it to make it extra healthy.
  4. Pita bread pockets and Tortilla rolls: I personally prefer pita bread pockets as they are filling and healthy too. Sauté vegetables of your choice at home the previous night. Cooked rice with tomato paste and spice can also be used as a filling. I like scrambled egg in mine, adds the extra protein and nutrition. Tortilla rolls with your favorite filling is good too. I enjoy a big glass of buttermilk or light yoghurt seasoned with salt and pepper. Then round it up with a bite into a juicy apple and you are all ready to take on the world.

Just make sure your lunch ideas are healthy, satisfying and energy laden. Not junk food, fatty or empty calories.
