Coffee is serious fun at the exciting 11th Annual World Barista Championship . The 11th Annual World Barista Championship will be held in London from June 23rd to June 25th 2010. The event will be organized within the Caffe Culture show in the Olympia Exhibition Centre, which is inside the Grand Hall and National Hall. The National Champions of 2009-2010 will compete in a 3-day competition this year.
About the World Barista Championships
The World Barista Championship is one of the finest coffee competitions across the globe. It is organized by the Specialty Coffee Association of America and the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe. The event not only promotes excellence in coffee, but also engages audience from different parts of the globe in an annual championship.
Each year, champions from over 50 nations make 4 cappuccinos, 4 espressos, and 4 original drinks in a 15 minute performance, which is set to music. Each of these performances is evaluated on grounds of taste, creativity, technical skills, cleanliness and overall presentation by the World Barista Championship Certified Judges. The ever-popular signature drink allows baristas widen their thoughts and the judges’ palates in order to integrate a wealth of knowledge in coffee into an expression of their personal preferences and tastes.
The top 12 competitors chosen from the initial round further compete in the semi-finals. Thereafter, the top 6 competitors advance to the final round. The winner out of these is declared as the World Barista Champion!
